I'm a Chicago native and I'm fussy about pizza. Been going to Papa Murphy's for over a decade. They consistently put out a quality take-and-bake product, with a good crust, delicious sauce, and fresh ingredients.
On Chicago's Southwest Side, I never saw a deep-dish downtown "tourist pizza" until I was 16, fifty years ago. I've had some delicious ones, for sure, but it's not what we grew up with in the neighborhood.
I will let you in on a little secret: You can come pretty close to the mom-and-pop pizza I love when I visit Chicago.
Start with a Papa Murphy's pie with their thinnest crust. Add one or two of your favorite non-meat ingredients. (I recommend mushrooms and black olives, if you like those.)
Take it home and add a thin layer of grated Asiago cheese, then top it with pinch after pinch of Scimeca's Italian sausage (get it at Hy-Vee), and pop that baby into your oven as instructed.
Enjoy. You can thank me later.
Very good pizza, and even though I’ve only ordered here a couple of times, it’s always been ready when I arrive and they’ve been generous with the toppings. It still feels a bit expensive to me, but it’s a nice middle ground between Pizza Hut and Minsky’s as far as cost goes. Definitely a good choice when you have a good coupon!
I am not going here anymore!! Several things happened. 1st off the manager was NOT using gloves on the pizza dough when I walked in. He was stretching it on the pie plate. Washed hands, IDK???? Then he took my order and went back to the dough. One of the workers had long hair flopping around without putting up. Hair falling in pizza, IDK????? Other person kept scratching his face and moving his hair so he could see, wearing same gloves, SMH!!!! The kid wrapping the final product didn’t know what he was doing and it came open on the way into the car and made a mess!! From NOW on I will make my own pizza at home!!

Found this piece of aluminum in our pizza. Didn’t see it until we cooked it. Might need to double check your product before pickups👎

Was sooo tasty but a little cooled off. Cold, even. Still good!
